The unbearable weight of clouds

I find it ironic that AWS is not really just that simple when it comes to some like, just using S3 to backup your personal data. So to do it right you really need a Terraform module to setup your account for best practices. Then another Terraform module to setup your S3 bucket with the proper encryption. There is always AWS Backup right?

Nope you still have to set up your root account. Then at the time of this writing AWS Backup doesn't support coping your on-prem files. So this is 2023. We are almost 2 decades into the cloud and it hasn't gotten easier. Actually the cloud has gotten more complicated. AWS now has over 200 services.

The average cloud weights roughly 500,000 kg (about 1.1 million pound). Like its analog the computing clouds look like a feather on the outside but weights tons when you get into it.
